Go Where???

You're running for your life...armies after you...everyone is scared and in a panic...Is this it??? You get to the Red Sea=no way out!? and God says, "GO!"  Huh? Here??? How? Are you kidding???

Psalm 77:19-"Your path led through the sea, Your way through the mighty waters, though Your footprints were not seen". Another translation says, "A path no one knew was there". "Path" here in Hebrew means, "track" with its root meaning "to flow, like a lady's train trailing after her".

My pastor did a little research on the Red Sea crossing of the Israelites. There is a map that shows where exactly they crossed according to Scripture and also a map that shows the typography of the land there. Apparently, the place where they crossed is elevated just enough so that when the winds came and the waters receded, they could cross. But they never would have known that elevation was there looking out at the vast sea. But God knew.

The other cool thing? When God created the earth, He saw fit to make sure that little elevation was there for the Israelites. He knew that they would have to cross there one day...so in His molding and shaping of that region, I imagine Him nudging 2 sides of earth up just a little bit further than the rest of the sea bottom so they'd have a safe place to cross hundreds of years later.

That was His path, His way--right through the sea. Impossible though it may have seemed, He knew something the panicked people did not. There is a verse in Isaiah that talks about God having a train that fills the temple (chapter 6, I believe???) I have an image of God leading the way over this path through the Red Sea with His train trailing behind Him and the Israelites following.

What path or way has God led you to that seems impossible to cross? That looks ridiculous to attempt? TRUST that if He's brought you to it, He knows something about it you do not. His footprints are already there even if you can't see them. So follow His train...
